Just because you have credit may not be in perfect shape that certainly does not mean you will not be able to get accepted for a loan and get the home of your dreams. To improve your chances there are a few things you can do to get prepared before heading in for your appointment to apply for the loan.
First, order a report of your credit rating. This will show you your credit score and a detailed listing of all monies you owe. Make sure there are no inaccuracies. This common problem can significantly tarnish a credit report. If you do spot any mistakes showing, such as credit cards or a line of credit taken out in your name that you are not aware of you need to report this immediately.
Leaving such mistakes on your credit report could not only pose a problem to your rating but also could mean that someone has taken your identity and is taking out money in your name.
Take time to do research. You do not want to go in completely oblivious to what is going to happen. Be aware of different interest rates and have a list of questions ready so you do not forget anything.
Another important step to get yourself prepared is to make sure you have all the proper paperwork. This appointment is going to have you all excited and it would be pretty unfortunate to turn up on time and eager, only to realize you have forgotten something you need. Typically you will be required to show personal identification and some proof of income.
This could be anything from a recent pay stub to your latest tax return. If you want to be sure you do not make any mistakes, call the lender and ask them specifically what to bring with you when you come.
Keep your chin up because you will find a lender who will approve you, it can just take some time and a lot of patience on your part.
